Pins of Hope for Kids of Widows and Widowers is a bowling fundraiser that will take place on February 23, 2013 in Glendale, Arizona to raise funds for Acts of Simple Kindness, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides financial grants to kids of widows and widowers, through the age of 18, so they can pursue programs in education, sports, music and the arts. 

Acts of Simple Kindness helps with the small things that make a BIG difference in the life of a grieving child.  Some examples including providing grants for soccer or softball fees, a pair of cleats or a new jersey, art class and supplies, dance fees, musical instrumental rental, piano lessons or tutoring to help improve grades. 

A child's surviving parent might be struggling to keep the mortgage paid and food on the table -- there may not be money for the 'extras.'  But when a child is grieving such a monumental loss, if's often the little things that help bring them joy again.  On a football field or while taking piano lessons, they aren't the child that lost a parent -- they are just like every other kid scoring a touch down or learning a new song.  These experiences give them a period of time to just be a kid, allowing a break from their grief so they can start to find their way again.

Important details about the Pins of Hope for Kids of Widows and Widowers FUNdraiser:

Teams

• The minimum donation is $300 per lane/team of 6 bowlers.  There is a Super Early Bird Special of $250 per lane/team of 6 bowlers through December 31, 2012 and an Early Bird special of $275 per lane/team of 6 bowlers from January 1 - January 31, 2013.  From February 1 through the date of the event, it will be $300 per lane/team of 6 bowlers.
• The minimum donation is $50 per person -- if you do not have enough bowlers to form a team, you may still purchase individual spots and we can assign you to a team. 
• Each lane/team may have a maximum of 6 bowlers. 
• If you want to participate as a bowler, but do not have a team of 6, please register and put "please assign me to a team" in the comments section and we will find a lane/team for you. 
• Each participating bowler will receive 2 games of bowling, shoe rental and unlimited soda.  Each lane will receive one large pizza to share. 

Donations

As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, donations are tax-deductible. 

Donations will be used in part to fund grants for deserving children, who have experienced the death of a parent, for things like a new football uniform, soccer fees, music instrument rentals or lessons, dance classes, art class and supplies -- the little things that make a BIG difference in helping a grieving child find happiness again that involved education, sports, music and the arts.
