CLAIMS ADMINISTRATION WORKSHOP 
November 7, 2012

The South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission will conduct a Claims Administration Workshop on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the South Carolina Department of Archives and History, 8301 Parklane Road, Columbia, SC 29223. 

This Workshop is for individuals responsible for processing, managing and adjudicating claims in the State's workers compensation system; including  attorneys, adjusters, claims managers, risk managers, paralegals, legal assistants, insurance carriers, and employers. Commission staff will lead the discussion and be available to respond to questions during three concurrent small group sessions focused on specific topics related to claims processing, the hearing and adjudication process, and coverage and compliance. Each concurrent session will be offered three times allowing every attendee the opportunity to attend all three sessions.

REGISTRATION: Cost to attend the Workshop is $45 per person and may be made online at the time of registration. Lunch and refreshments provided. No registration will be processed without full payment.

CANCELLATIONS: Cancellation requests received by the Commission by October 24, 2012 will receive a full refund. No credit or refund will be given for "no shows." Cancellation requests must be made in writing to Kim Ballentine, kballentine@wcc.sc.gov.

Executive Director Gary Cannon will provide highlights of the Commission's major activities, accomplishments, and statutory and regulation updates. Information Services Director Betsy Hartman and Business Analyst Amanda Underhill will provide the latest changes to eCase and secure email. IT staff will be available throughout the day to signup users for eCase, answer questions and provide one-on-one support.

Mr. Line will present a step-by-step process for the use of Commission forms, reporting requirements, and rules and regulations for administration and management of workers' compensation claims.     

Concurrent Session II - Judicial
Virginia Crocker, Judicial Department Director

Ms. Crocker will provide a comprehensive explanation of the Commission's judicial proceedings requirements and the three adjudication processes: Informal Conferences, Hearings, and Appeals.

Concurrent Session III - Insurance & Medical Services
Grant Duffield, Insurance & Medical Services Director
Mr. Duffield will provide a brief overview of the coverage and compliance requirements for workers' compensation claims and the Commission's responsibility in resolving medical billing disputes.
