Tanya Akel and Fernando Tapia, are Educators for the UCLA Labor Occupational Safety and Health Program and are passionate about keeping workers safe on the job. Ms. Akel and Mr. Tapia help small businesses and workers create a culture of safety in order to prevent worker injury and illness before they occur. In 2008, disabling workplace injuries cost U.S. employers 53.42 billion annually in medical and lost wage payments alone.
