Facilitating with Visuals in Mind - for better audience engagement with Amanda Lyons

Program Description:

What is visual thinking? Why does it matter? How do I incorporate it into my work? This interactive workshop will touch upon visual communication tools such as graphic recording, visual note-taking (or sketchnoting), how to add visual elements to group activities. At the very least, you will walk away with some visual basics for facilitation. We will explore our thinking and add skills to your facilitation toolbox to help clarify, engage and inspire your audience. Whether you work mostly one on one, in big groups or give lots of presentations this workshop is for you.

 TO BRING

- An unlined notebook or journal (This is optional - we will supply printer paper for drawing.)

- A pen and/or marker that feels great in your hand (This is optional - we will supply various pens and markers)

- An open mind

*No drawing experience is necessary! (Stick figures are welcome!)

About the Speaker:Amanda Lyons

Our presenter, Amanda Lyons, is an educator, facilitator, consultant, artist, visual thinker and team player based in Brooklyn, NY. She facilitates workshops, courses and trainings on visual note-taking (known as sketchnoting), conducts classroom presentations and also serves as a graphic recorder (visually capturing ideas at meetings and events).

Amanda helps people better understand each other through more meaningful connections - to enhance visual language appreciation and know how.  She works with companies big and small, bringing in affiliates when needed.

Amanda attended the Carey School of Business at Johns Hopkins University and received an MS in Organization Development and Strategic Human Resources. As a Lead Instructor for Outward Bound Urban Centers, she taught leadership skills, building resilience and compassion in people, with the outdoors as the classroom. Amanda earned a degree in Studio Art and English from Lafayette College.  Find her via visualsforchange.com or on twitter @amanda_lyons.
