Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT) Training

Please join us on Monday, December 10, 2012 for the Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT) workshop.  The workshop will be held from 8:30 am -3:30 pm at the Wright State University Student Union.  Registration will begin at 8:30 am and the program will begin promptly at 9 am.

Overview: The Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT) can help school districts, schools, and others conduct a clear, complete, and consistent analysis of health education curricula based on the National Health Education Standards and CDC’s Characteristics of an Effective Health Education Curriculum.  This is one of the four CDC Healthy Training Tools for Schools.

Results of the HECAT results can help schools select or develop appropriate and effective health education curricula and improve the delivery of health education. The HECAT can be customized to meet local community needs and conform to the curriculum requirements of the state or school district.

Objectives: By the end of this six hour workshop, participants will be able to:

1) Identify the characteristics and best practices of an effective health education curriculum (CDC).
2) Describe the uses for the Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT) and the different tool sections.
3) Demonstrate how to analyze a health education curriculum using HECAT.
4) List the steps and infrastructure that would be most desirable for implementation of the HECAT process
