Mikkal Herberg is a senior lecturer on international and Asian energy at the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies, University of California, San Diego. His recent publications include "China’s ‘Energy Rise’ and The New Geopolitics of Global Energy" ; “Energy Security in the Asia-Pacific Region and Policy of the New U.S. Administration”; and "China’s Search for Energy Security: Implications for the United States."
