About ASA-OK:  The American Subcontractors Association of Oklahoma (ASA-OK) is a nonprofit trade association representing subcontractors throughout the state. As part of a nationwide network of over 30 local and state chapters, the ASA-OK represents the single voice of all subcontractors, specialty trade contractors and suppliers in the Oklahoma construction industry. As the only organization who is solely dedicated to addressing the issues and concerns affecting subcontractors, the ASA-OK is the premier resource for networking, education and legislative representation, on both the state and national level. The ASA-OK is Oklahoma subcontractors’ advocate, working daily to protect their interests and promote fair business practices throughout the construction industry.

About OBAN:  The Oklahoma Bid Assistance Network provides marketing and technical assistance to Oklahoma businesses interested in selling products and services to federal, state and local governments and other highly structured markets. The primary purpose of OBAN is to create jobs and expand the economy in Oklahoma by providing specific, valuable resources to Oklahoma businesses.  Sixteen participating CareerTech schools deliver OBAN services at locations throughout Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education administers the program. OBAN, which serves as a Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), is funded in part through a cooperative agreement from the Department of Defense (DOD) through a program that is administered by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). The content of any written materials or verbal communications of the PTAC does not necessarily reflect the official views of or imply endorsement by DOD or DLA.

April 11th Human Resources Seminar

A part of the Oklahoma Subcontractor Business Education Series

The American Subcontractors Association of Oklahoma (ASA-OK) and the Oklahoma Bid Assistance Network (OBAN) have announced the first-ever statewide construction business educational series.  The Oklahoma Subcontractor Business Education Series will include 12 seminars held on the second Thursday of each month, January through December 2013, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at various Tech Centers across Oklahoma.

Register below for the Thursday, April 11th Seminar on Human Resources.

The year-long course is designed to provide on-going business education in a variety of areas for Oklahoma’s subcontractors, helping to produce business people who are in the subcontracting business, not subcontractors who run a business!  And there is no cost for ASA-OK members and OBAN clients!

In addition to the normal classroom style teaching, each seminar will include a practical implementation/best practices panel, identification of resources for additional learning, and additional follow-up educational opportunities.

The overall course is divided into four quarterly groupings potentially targeting different people within a company each quarter.  Companies who have owners and/or employees attend each session will receive certification from ASA-OK and OBAN for completion of the course.  The topics for each month are as follows:

First Quarter 2013

  • Bonding (January 10th)
  • Insurance (February 14th)
  • Financial Matters & Taxes (March 14th)

 Second Quarter 2013

Third Quarter 2013

Fourth Quarter 2013
