Letting Go to Lead: Convening and Facilitating When Stakes Are High (San Diego)

This two-day workshop is for people who facilitate meetings in their organizations or communities, who want to harness differences in the service of learning and innovation rather than unproductive repetition, paralysis, or weak compromises.

Letting Go to Lead invites participants to consider ways they can convene, design, prepare for, and facilitate meetings that build attendee engagement and mutual accountability on the basis of clarified purposes and commitments. This workshop is suited for both new and experienced facilitators for whom convening and facilitating is part of larger leadership and management roles.

Facilitators are Meenakshi Chakraverti, Director of Public Conversations West and Cheryl Getz of the Department of Leadership Studies at the University of San Diego.

Workshop Policies

Sliding Scale Fee: PCP's sliding scale for training fees reflects our commitment to creating a more inclusive society. As a non-profit organization funded largely by individual donations, we hope that those who can afford it will register at a higher end of the fee range. We encourage for-profit organizations to treat the upper price limit as our standard workshop fee, as it most accurately reflects the true cost and value of PCP trainings.

Payment Policy: Your space is guaranteed only upon receipt of full payment. Once payment is received, we will email you preparatory materials.

If You Cancel: Cancellations are a challenge. Last-minute vacancies can be difficult to fill, and we have already prepared materials, made financial commitments, etc. Therefore, if you must cancel, please do so as far in advance as possible. Please note that cancellations are subject to a $25 administration fee plus an additional $25 to cover credit card refund processing, if you paid by credit card.  Cancellations must be made at least 2 weeks prior to the course date to receive any refund. PCP is under no obligation to offer any refund or credit if you cancel within two weeks of a workshop. If you need to cancel due to a medical emergency or local weather conditions, please call (617) 923-1216 ext. 27.

Substitutions: If you cannot attend and wish to send someone in your place, call (617) 923-1216 ext. 27. You must be ready to register your substitute at the time of your call. Substitutions must be made at least 5 days in advance. The new participant must complete the registration and preparation processes that are unique to each workshop.

If We Cancel: In very rare instances, PCP must cancel a workshop due to low enrollment, faculty illness or weather. In the very unlikely event that PCP has to cancel a workshop due to low enrollment, we will give you at least 3 weeks notice. If we cancel due to faculty illness, we will contact you as far in advance as possible. If we cancel a workshop at the last minute due to weather, we will leave a message on our voicemail. If the weather forecast calls for a severe storm in the area in which the workshop will be held, a decision about whether to cancel the workshop will be made by 4:00pm on the day before. Please call (617) 923-1216 and press 27 to hear the message. If the workshop is canceled, we will issue you a full refund. No administration fees will be charged if we cancel a workshop. We cannot be responsible for travel losses.
