This workshop will review the several measurement tools and methods that businesses can use to better run operations.  It includes the use of financial statements.  Key Performance Indicators and metrics, the use of Control Charts and Cost of Quality Concepts.

You will learn:

  • How to use the Income Statement, the Balance Sheet and the Cash Flow Statement to improve operations, cost management and growth curves.
  • What Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are:  how to identify what they should be for a business and how to select the right goals and metrics for each KPI.
  • How the forecast can be turned into a business plan.
  • Some statistical methods that will help improve KPI performance:  control charts - what they are and how to use them; Cost of Quality concepts and methods.
  • The workshop will touch on some thoughts on how to utilize employees more effectively in implementing the quantitative tools.  This will be taken up in much greater detail in the following workshop.

John is Managing Director of Adulant Consulting Services which advises small and medium size businesses on strategies for growth and operating excellence.  His services include business and strategic plan development, strategic forecasting, marketing plan development and execution and operational efficiency improvement.  John has held senior leadership and executive positions at Eastman Kodak, the Gartner Group and Pitney Bowes in sales, marketing, quality management, strategic planning and new business development. John is a SCORE Business Mentor.
