For Innovative Businesses

 

Summary:

An intensive day workshop that features expert guidance on how to communicate the value of your innovation.  Learn how to communicate to your stakeholders in a way that makes them listen, care and understand.

The workshop will feature presentations from Velma McColl (Principal, Earnscliffe Strategy Group) and Peng-Sang Cau (President and CEO, Transformix) and will provide entrepreneurs and owners of innovative businesses with an opportunity to network and share resources with other innovators.

Coffee, snacks, and a delicious grab and go lunch are included with the workshop.

Speaker Bio:

Velma

Velma McColl blends her deep understanding of business, government and policy to create opportunities for her clients. She works on a range of economic and social issues and specializes in energy, environment and green technologies.

Prior to joining Earnscliffe in 2004, Velma advised several Federal Cabinet Ministers on political strategy, policy and communications. She has also worked provincially in BC and Alberta. Through her career, she has focused on Canada's competitiveness and innovation challenges, climate change, energy, technology and sustainable development. She has an interest in alternate dispute resolution and has worked to find creative solutions across federal/provincial/territorial, North American and international boundaries. Her career includes success as an entrepreneur and experience working collaboratively with business, academia, think tanks, not-for-profit organizations and the public sector.

A Westerner with more than a decade in Ottawa, Velma studied at the University of British Columbia and the Banff School of Management. She is a frequent writer and commentator on international and national energy and climate change issues, bringing a strong economic and political understanding. She is a co-founder of the Canadian Clean Technology Coalition and Women in GR and plays a leadership role with several organizations including Sustainable Prosperity and the Ryan's Well Foundation.

Speaker Bio:

Peng

Peng-Sang Cau has served as President and CEO of Transformix since 1999, guiding the company's transition from a local provider of engineering services to international supplier of advanced automation systems.

 Peng and her family immigrated to Canada from Pol Pot's Cambodia. Quickly adapting to a new culture and a new language, Peng graduated at the top of her high school class in Regina, Saskatchewan and was admitted to Canada's prestigious Queen's University, from which she graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

 Prior to joining Transformix in 1996 as partner and VP of Sales & Marketing, Peng held sales and marketing posts at Quantum Information Resources and Lever Pond. She resides in Kingston, Ontario, where she was active in local business development efforts, including the CEO Roundtable, the Kingston Technology Council, and the Kingston Economic Development Center. She also volunteered her time with youth, coaching basketball and soccer and serving as a Girl Guide Leader and co-President of Loyalist Gymnastic Club.  

 Her greatest achievement and pride and joy are her two children Kasia and Jet.
