SEMAP Farmer Winter Potluck Series 2013

All Growers Are Welcome!

Shake off the low light blues with 3 fun potluck gatherings all around Southeastern MA. Meet new farmers and old friends while enjoying home cooked (and grown) potluck delights.  SEMAP and The Carrot Project will be on hand to partake in the festivities with information on upcoming events and opportunities.  Families welcome!

Please register for any of the potlucks (or ALL) so we can get an accurate head count. Also, what will you be bringing to share?

Hope to see you there!

Sarah Cogswell, Program Director (SEMAP)

A little bit about The Carrot Project's MA Programs:

MA Loan Programs

The Carrot Project provides financing and business planning assistance to help farmers thrive. Loans and related financial technical assistance are available for farms and value added-on farm enterprises in Massachusetts.  Capital or operating loans of $3,000-$35,000, with interest rates currently of 6-7%, are available to farm, forestry and fishery businesses with any type of local agricultural or value-added product.

Assistance preparing application materials is available, including cash flow projections and enterprise budgets for new projects. Loans are available for businesses who may not be able to obtain financing elsewhere including startups and beginning farmers.  Businesses that already have a working business plan are ideally suited to apply.

Measuring Profitability and Success

Free Financial Planning Services Available Through The Carrot Project

The Carrot Project is looking to work with farmers who can make themselves available for a few hours each year to participate in a Carrot Project directed study of farm profitability. Project participants are eligible to receive free financial planning services, like cash flow planning or business plan updates. Participation is for two years, and requires the submission of anonymous financial information.  The study outcomes will help explain the returns on investments in lending and support services for farmers across the Northeast. Farmers can begin participating now.  This project is funded through the Research and Education Program of Northeast SARE.  Learn More
