Course Objectives:

  • Describe the rationale for a patient and family – centered approach to care and its core concepts.
  • Identify the steps an organization can take to create partnerships with patients and families.
  • Discuss how an organization can incorporate the key principles for patient – and family – centered care within their facility.

 Continuing Education Credit           1.5 contact hour

Nurses and Technicians: This activity has been submitted to the American Nephrology Nurses’ Association (ANNA) for approval to award contact hours. The ANNA is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Social Workers:  The Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners certifies that this program meets the criteria for 1 credit hour of Category I continuing education credit for social workers.

Dietitians: One and a half Level I Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours have been applied for through the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the American Dietetic Association.
