Alex Roudi is the Founder / Chairman of La Jolla-based Interwest Capital Corporation and has led transactions of over $550 million since the early 2000s. In his prior position, he led Coverall North America from an initial investment of $8,000 to a $250 million global organization. Alex is a graduate of the Harvard Business School, UC Berkeley and Purdue University. At the Jan 24th event he will be discussing his role in bringing Silicon Valley's Plug and Play to San Diego and providing insight on the opportunity for startups in our region to win $25,000 in funding and entry into StartupCamp, which culminates in EXPO Day where the startups pitch to over 100 VCs..

Alex is shown above with the Plug and Play San Diego judges selected so far: Bill Walton - NBA Champion, Sports Broadcaster and Executive Chairman of Connect's San Diego Sports Innovators (SDSI); Duane Roth - CEO of San Diego Connect; Leo Spiegel - Managing Partner at Mission Ventures; Greg Lucier - Chairman and CEO of Life Technologies; and more judges and advisors to be announced soon!

Plug and Play has raised more than $1 billion in venture funding since 2006 (over $500 million for 16 startup exits though M&A and $350 million raised by 25 startups last year alone!) Our session "The Bridge to Silicon Valley VCs" will include extensive Q&A and introductions to local CEOs Ben Katz and Lee Jacobson.

Ben Katz is a serial entrepreneur, best known for CompleteCampaigns, which provides fundraising and accounting software to political campaigns in all fifty states. He sold CompleteCampaigns to Aristotle International in 2008. Ben is now CEO of Givalike, an online platform that services the $200 billion individual charitable donation space. Givalike is focused on making giving easy.

Lee Jacobson is an entertainment executive with expertise in the video game industry working with Virgin Entertainment, Viacom, Midway Games and most recently Atari, where he served as Senior VP of Publishing and Licensing. Lee is now the CEO of Apmetrix a mobile analytics company which offers next generation state of the art business intelligence and analytics for mobile apps and video games, enabling companies to visualize and deeply understand player behaviors as well as automate and target their marketing efforts to maximize revenues.
