Executive Luncheon Event

Join the Cloud Security Alliance, Seattle Chapter (CSA) for an Executive Luncheon with leading industry experts Kirk C. Bailey, CISO of The University of Washington, and John Howie, COO of the Cloud Security Alliance. As CISO, Kirk is responsible for Information Assurance and Security Services. Mr. Bailey's presentation, “The Cupboard of Good Ideas is Bare: Where are We going with Security and Privacy?” will address the challenging risk issues associated with the current threat spectrum, and the root-problem issues with traditional security practices. Mr. Howie will provide an update on Cloud Security Alliance research, and share how global enterprises are using CSA research to securely migrate to the cloud.

Featuring Kirk C. Bailey, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of The University of Washington. Kirk's primary focus is strategic planning, oversight and accountability for information assurance program, which includes information security and privacy. Mr. Bailey is also Chair of the University’s Privacy Assurance and Systems Security Council (PASS Council).

Kirk has been a technology professional for over 35 years including 25 years of information assurance practice experience working in the financial services industry, healthcare, local government, and higher education. Kirk is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) since 1998 and a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) since 2003. He has worked at UW since 2001.

John Howie is Chief Operating Officer at the Cloud Security Alliance. John has over twenty years of experience working in information and communications technology in a variety of industry sectors including financial, telecommunications, entertainment, education and software manufacturing.

Prior to joining the Cloud Security Alliance, John managed the groups responsible for security in the datacenters of a leading cloud provider. John is a Visiting Professor at Edinburgh Napier University’s School of Computing, a Visiting Research Professor at the University of Arizona’s Eller School of Management, is a member of the editorial advisory board for the Journal of Information Management and Computer Security, is a member of the certification advisory board for certifications of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, and is an advisor to the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute’s Security Governance/Counter-Terrorism Laboratory. John graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with a BSc (Hons) in Computing, in 1991.
