2013 January Sesshin at Beginners Mind Zen Center

The 19-20 January 2013 sesshin at Beginner's Mind Zen Center will close out our Practice Period, ending with a Shuso Ceremony for Jokan Zenshin Tim Buckley. The weekend's schedule is as follows:

SATURDAY

  • Sesshin begins at 6:30am and ends at 8:30pm

SUNDAY

  • Sesshin resumes at 6:30am and ends at 11:30am
  • Set-up for the Shuso Ceremony begins immediately following the close of sesshin.
  • Shuso Ceremony begins at 1pm and ends around 2pm, followed by a potluck reception
A detailed schedule for each day is available on the Beginner's Mind Zen Center web site.

Sesshin is a traditional Soto Zen meditation retreat that includes oryoki meals, Dharma talks, sitting and walking meditation, work periods (samu), and private interviews (dokusan) with teachers. (For those who wish to stay overnight either Friday or Saturday, accommodations will be available to sleep in the zendo.)

While we hope you'll be able to attend the entire sesshin, you are welcome to attend morning, mid-day or evening portions if that is all your schedule or other obligations will allow. However you plan to participate, please let us know in advance so we can plan for teas, meals and otherwise make the needed arrangements.
