CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS

For AICP members All of the education sessions and mobile workshops at this year’s conference have been approved by the American Planning Association for CM credit, except for the film "Chasing Ice." The conference will offer a total of 54.25 CM credits. An AICP member attending the full conference can earn up to 13.75 CM credits.  

For ASLA members Most of the education sessions and mobile workshops at this year’s conference have been LACES approved for continuing education requirements. The conference will offer a total of 43.5 HSW credit hours. An ASLA member attending the full conference can earn up to 13 HSW credit hours.

CONFERENCE PARKING

Parking for conference attendees is available in the Parking Garage at 222 Broadway for $3.00/car, per day.  Parking coupons will be available in the conference registration packet and must be given to the parking attendant upon exit from the garage to receive this special rate.  For GPS systems, use the address 220 Broadway, Schenectady, New York 12305.  The entrance to Proctors is across the street from the garage under the marquee next to New York State Lottery building.  (The Parking Garage is located next to Villa Italia Restaurant and across the street from the NYS Lottery Building).

HOTEL INFORMATION

While our original conference room block closed on August 25, 2013, the Holiday Inn Schenectady has made additional rooms available for use by conference attendees on Wednesday and Thursday night, at a rate of $121.95 per night.  These rooms will be available until Monday, September 9, 2013.  You will need to call the Holiday Inn in order to book one of these rooms, rather than use the hotel’s online reservation system. If you have not reserved a hotel room yet, call the Holiday Inn at (518) 393-4141and request the "APA/ASLA Conference" block.  Please make your hotel reservation soon!

JOE MINICOZZI, AICP, TO DELIVER KEYNOTE

Minicozzi photoJoseph Minicozzi, AICP is the principal of Urban3, LLC (U3). His work has been featured at the Congress for New Urbanism, the American Planning Association, the International Association of Assessing Officers, and New Partners for SmartGrowth conferences as a paradigm shift for thinking about development patterns. Joe is a founding member of the Asheville Design Center, a non-profit community design center dedicated to creating livable communities across all of Western North Carolina.  He received his Bachelor of Architecture from University of Miami and Masters in Architecture and Urban Design from Harvard University.

Our combined conference will have an exciting schedule of events including classroom and mobile workshops, the annual APA awards luncheon, and two receptions. STUDENT PROJECT SHOWCASE


The New York Upstate APA + ASLA Chapters invite each school to submit TWO student projects to showcase at the fall conference opening reception in Schenectady New York. Attendees will be asked to rank the projects during the reception and the highest ranking project will receive an award.
