What is the GLSEN Connecticut Safe Schools Summit?
GLSEN Connecticut’s 2nd annual statewide Safe Schools Summit is a student-led and chapter-coordinated effort to empower youth, educators, and other community allies with the knowledge, resources, and skills to make their schools safer for all students, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression.
Who is leading the Summit?
GLSEN Connecticut’s Student Organizing (Org.) Team, Jump-Start and Students of Color Organizing (SOCO), and chapter leaders will facilitate workshops and activities for participants on how to make their schools safer for all. The summit will also feature guest speakers and community organizations that share the summit’s mission to address and prevent bullying and harassment in schools.
Who is this Summit for?
While our chapter’s Jump-Start and SOCO teams will be facilitating workshops for students and Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs) or similar organizations in middle and high school (Gr. 6-12), GLSEN Connecticut’s adult chapter leaders will also be leading programming for GSA advisors, educators, school administrators, and other adult allies.
