Using Student Achievement Data to Support Instructional Decision Making

REL Mid-Atlantic and the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association are co-hosting a half-day conference designed to familiarize K–12 educators with research-based recommendations and methods described in the What Works Clearinghouse practice guide Using Student Achievement Data to Support Instructional Decision Making (2009).

During the event, Sharnell Jackson, one of the guide’s authors, will discuss implementation of the recommendations, potential roadblocks, and potential solutions to those roadblocks. She will also lead small-group strategic planning activities, in which teams of school teachers and administrators will plan implementation of practice guide recommendations for their schools or districts.

Ms. Jackson is a nationally recognized instructional leadership consultant, coach, and education strategist for states, districts, foundations, and businesses. She has more than 35 years of K–12 experience as a classroom teacher, STEM teacher leader, data coach, assistant principal, state director, and chief e-learning officer. She has worked in rural, suburban, and urban school districts, state departments of education, and regional educational laboratories nationwide. Her publications include the 2012 book Transforming Teaching and Learning Through Data-Driven Decision Making.
