Upstate Professional Planners Meeting 

Following the successful meetings held in 2012, we will be holding the first Upstate Professional Planners Meeting of 2013 on Thursday, February 28th, from 9:30am-11:30am with a light breakfast at the ReWa Corporate Office.

The theme of the first meeting is “the connections between planning and economic development” and we will have three speakers: Hal Johnson from Upstate Alliance will speak about economic development from the regional perspective, Mark Warner from Greenwood Partnership Alliance will speak about economic development from the county perspective, and Nancy Whitworth from the City of Greenville will speak about economic development and the relationship between economic development and planning from the city perspective. Each presenter will speak for about 20 minutes. We will follow up with a discussion for which we have these goals- to come up with five things that economic developers need from planners/ planning departments to make their jobs easier and more effective, and five things that planners need from economic developers to make their jobs easier and more effective.

Feel free to invite other planners from within your organization or others who you work with across the Upstate as we are still trying to build a comprehensive list from across the region.
