Raising a healthy eater is more than providing nutritious meals and snacks. It depends on the development of a positive relationship between parents and their children. Raising Health Eaters is an evidence based curriculum from the University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension that integrates nutrition and parenting education. The eight session curriculum was developed especially for low income parents of young children (ages two to five years of age) to help them understand child development related to eating and to help them develop skills and strategies for dealing with common feeding challenges. The curriculum uses a learner-centered approach  and uses facilitated dialogue, games and other activities to illustrate concepts.  Participants will receive handouts and simple recipes (in both English and Spanish) appropriate for low literacy audiences. Although the curriculum is designed to be done with small groups of parents, home visitors will find the concepts and materials applicable to one on one visits.

Participants will receive free children's books highlighting health and nutrition to take on home visits and use with families.
