Aveda Tallahassee Walk for Water

Join Tallahassee's Aveda Salons in celebration of Earth Month 2013 on Sunday, April 21st.

Registrations is $15 for adults and children (ages 0 - 12) are welcome at no additional fee.

Events will feature a walk-a-thon around Southwood's lake, face painting sponsored by Chelsea's Salon, a bake sale sponsored by Athena Salon & Spa, and an art sale sponsored by So Pure Salon. The following local organizations will also have demonstrations and information tables set up: The Gulf Restoration Network, The Apalachicola Riverkeeper, Tallahassee Water, TAPP, City of Tallahassee, Learning Systems Institute, and Park Avenue Health Club.

Parking will be available at the Southwood Town Center. Please bring a refillable container for proper hydration.

Our walk-a-thon is inspired by the women of many countries who must carry buckets of water over 6 miles to their homes to have clean, fresh water. We want to demonstrate the importance of water and encourage more thoughtful conservation in our daily uses.

All proceeds will be donated to the Global Greengrants Fund and the Gulf Restoration Network.

F.A.Q.

Q: Do I have to walk the full 6 miles?

A: No! The lake is only a 2 mile loop, there is also a path way that is only 1 mile. You can walk as much or as little as you would like.

Q: Can I donate without participating?

A: Of course! You may donate through paypal, at the salon, or at the event.

Q: What should I bring?

A re-usable water bottle, preferably not plastic. Sun screen. Comfortable shoes. Monetary donations for face painting, bake sale, and art sale.

Registration is also available in-store for your convenience. Your $15 registration fee will be donated directly to the Gulf Restoration Network, an organization committed to uniting and empowering the people to protect and restore the natural resources of our Gulf Region.

In addition to walking for water you can purchase an official Aveda Earth Month T-shirt or Candle. Proceeds are donated to the Global Greengrants Fund, a grassroots organization dedicated to mobilizing resources for global environmental sustainability and social justice.
