Course Description

This course in Leadership Development for Hazardous Materials Professionals, presented by Dr. Robert Emery, is a unique 16-hour, 2-day course designed for those who have completed HAZWOPER 24-hour, 40-hour, and/or 8-hour Supervisor training and are in (or aspire to be in) positions of leadership. Crafted to address the skills commonly identified as lacking among individuals wishing to ascend to leadership positions, you will learn the fine nuances of management, leadership, data collection and analysis, presentation development, and hazard communication.

  • HAZWOPER performance measures and metrics
  • Determining which metrics matter most
  • Introduction to risk management and Insurance
  • Introduction to disaster funding, mutual aid agreements, and contracts
  • Effective communications and communicating with data
  • Basic security concepts for HAZWOPER operations
  • Effectively managing the under-exposed
