“Shame and Silence: Addressing the Stigma of Mental Illness”


Target audience:
Health care providers, settlement service workers, peer support workers, school board personnel, policy makers, directors, CEOs for hospital/community agencies, first responders, and funders as well as consumers, family members, students and the community at large. 

Objectives:
 At the end of the conference, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe effective ways of engaging and empowering diverse people with lived experiences to further their recovery and facilitate their capacity to decrease societal stigma and promote mental health for all
  2. Develop strategies of engaging and working with ethnoracial and diverse communities in anti-stigma and anti-discrimination work
  3. Identify and address mental health/addictions needs of diverse communities
  4. Develop a more culturally competent and holistic practice, drawing on traditional, cultural, and spiritual beliefs and healing practices
