The Awards of Distinction awards program is our premier fundraising event for Girl Scouts of Western Pennsylvania; proceeds from the dinner directly support the Girl Scouts’ mission. The Awards of Distinction honors outstanding community members for their achievments and creates a forum by which the Girl Scout message and mission are highlighted.

The 2013 Awards of Distinction Event recognizes outstanding members from the community for their efforts.

2013 Woman of Distinction

Heather Cass

Founder and Race Director of the Her Times 5K

Over the race’s 7-year history, Heather has inspired and coached hundreds of women to take steps toward better health. Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania receives proceeds from the event which takes place on October 5, 2013 at Presque Isle State Park in Erie.

GE Transportation

GE Transportation supports the Girl Scout mission through their involvement in helping more girls discover STEM careers. GE employees visited Girl Scout Troops to celebrate National Engineers Week. During the events, Girl Scouts learned more about possible career paths and participated in fun activities. One activity – building backscratchers –showed the girls how to take a project

from design to completed product.
