Enjoy a mid-spring adventure with long-time McKenzie River Trust board member and bird expert Kit Larsen on a bird tour of the 161-acre Coyote Spencer Wetlands. The extensive, intact wetland habitats of the Coyote Spencer Wetlands are home to an impressive variety of birds, plants, and wildlife, many of them native to our region. As we spend the morning hours exploring life along the edges of emergent wetlands, wet prairie fields, and the understories of the extensive oak and ash forests, Kit will guide your eyes towards the fascinating avian animals above. Bring your binoculars!

The Coyote Spencer Wetlands were purchased and protected by the McKenzie River Trust in March, 2012; we are just beginning to learn about the extensive bird use of this site. Help us add a new species to our bird list! Located just 5 miles southwest of Highway 126 and upstream of Fern Ridge Reservoir, this protected property is a conservation jewel in Eugene's backyard. This tour is open to all skill levels. Only an interest in nature is necessary!
