US Energy Options Beyond 2013

lThe debate over Climate Change rages on throughout the world. Does it or does it not exist? If it does, is it man-made or a natural reocurring cycle of nature?  At the crux of the debate is carbon dioxide (CO2), the ubiquitous gas charged with containing the heat of the earth and responsible for raising global temperature.  If man-made, is fossil fuel energy production the culprit?  And if so, is fossil fuel the necessary evil for us to sustain our economy and enhance the quality of life we enjoy?  Or, can we have it both ways, a vibrant economy and high quality of life powered by sun, wind and fire (thermal)?

Two disparate, yet, converging schools of thought are at the focus of the argument-fossil fuels and renewable energy. Disparate in that one represents traditional thinking and guaranteed energy as long as fossil fuel supplies last, and the other-futuristic innovation using wind, sun, and thermal resoures to power the earth, with an inexhaustable free supply of fuel, but with costly, unproven technology and therefore, perhaps unreliable power.  And, converging because fossil fuel advocates continually find additonal sources of fuel, thereby prolonging its potential use and technological innovation  drives ever cleaner and less carbon emitting power generation.

Rayola Dougher, senior economist at the American Petroleum Institute, the trade association for America's oil and natural gas industry, and John D. Musick, an international renewable energy entrepreneur will present and discuss their visions for America's energy future.

After listening to our two experts, we will entertain, what is sure to be a lively debate, with the audience encouraged to weigh in.

So join us for this first of its kind World Affairs Council of Las Vegas Energy Options for the Future.

An open bar and complimentary hors d'oeuvres will fuel us through the evening.
