Caring Discipline

A Workshop for Teachers, Administrators & Assistants

with Sarah Lauer

Plan to attend our Spring Workshop on Saturday, April 20th, 9:00am – 12:30pm, with Sarah Lauer, experienced educator and presenter from the Parent Support Center PDX, at Far Horizons Montessori School in Eugene.

This workshop will share practical and useful discipline skills you can use in the classroom with children of all ages.  Sarah will discuss how to nurture healthy emotional growth, offer tools to avoid power struggles, and explore ways adults often sabotage their own attempts at providing caring discipline.  She will help us develop ways to empower children to resolve their own disputes and guide us in listening for a child's inner reality.  The techniques will aid us in building positive relationships with children and can be incorporated into your classroom management practices right away!

Sarah's work is based upon JoAnne Nordling's book, Taking Charge, which will be available for purchase at the workshop, or you can buy it in advance and come prepared!  OMA will offer light refreshments at the workshop.  We will issue Certificates for 3.5 hours of registry training credit.

About Sarah Lauer: Sarah has taught parent education classes based on JoAnne Nordling's book, Taking Charge:  caring discipline that works at home and at school, throughout the Eugene/Springfield area for the past 20 years.  She is also an Elementary ELL Instructor and the parent of three grown children.  She has taught through churches, schools and community groups, and also has presented on panel presentations and workshops, including the Willamalene Parks and Rec District, Oregon School Employees Association, and the Oregon Association for the Education of Young Children.  Working directly with the author, Sarah developed the curriculum for parenting used by the Parent Support Center PDX, for educating instructors using the Caring Discipline materials.  She works directly with children in the classroom as an ELL instructor for the 4J School District in Eugene.
