Leadership Awards 


We are excited to bring you the 2013 SCV Leadership Awards! This event in its second year is designed to recognize top-performing businesses and individuals from the Santa Clarita Valley.

The leadership awards are presented by the Valley’s leading business support organizations – the Valley Industry Association, Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Corporation. Together, these groups have partnered with The Magazine of Santa Clarita to celebrate the accomplishments of local business leaders through a unique, community-wide nomination process and event. The event will be held on August 15th, 2013, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, at the Hyatt Regency Valencia.   Dinner will be provided.  

The leadership awards represent a new opportunity for sponsors to partner with successful companies, support our local economy and help recognize some of the best and brightest leaders in our Valley. The following sponsorship opportunities are available: Sponsorship Document  & Nomination Form

Award Catagories & Criteria 

Minority/Woman Owned Business Award

This award recognizes established companies that demonstrate exemplary business performance. Typical candidates would have been in business for four or more years.

Non-Profit Leadership

This is a special award presented to a local non-profit organization based on their ability to meet fundraising goals, meet expenses and delivery of excellent products or services to their clients. Included in the evaluation would be their board and staff management.

Best Community Spirit

This award is for a company that has a philosophy of getting involved and giving back to the community.  This is accomplished by getting involved in  business organizations & non-profist for the purpose of growing and enhancing its own image and visibility. This is a company that consistently demonstrates community spirit through employee volunteers, financial support and the support of community and non-profits.

Innovation of Product or Service

This company award is presented to a business that has developed an innovative product or service that isn’t found elsewhere or is the first of its kind in a particular industry or market.

Family Owned Business

To be considered for this award, the nominee must be a California based, family owned business with a history of and intentions of passing ownership to the next generation.

Business Leadership

This award would be presented to an executive level business person who either owns his/her business or works in an executive level position for acompany (President/CEO). This individual would likely have 20 plus years of business experience and would typically be the owner or highest ranking employee in their company. This person would manage a large number of employees (more than 50), manage a considerable budget and work in a business that has been in existence for 15 years or longer.

Rising Star

This award will be presented to a new or existing business that has significantly increased its economic impact over the past year. Examples of impact generators would be increases in job creation, capital investments and building expansion

Small Business (1-50 employees)

This award will be presented to a business owner with 1-50 employees who operates his/her business using sound financial, operation, staffing and customer service principles.

Medium Business (51-200 employees)

This award will be presented to a business owner with 51-200 employees who operates his/her business using sound financial, operations, staffing and customer service principles.

Large Business (201+ employees)

This award will be presented to a business owner with 201+ employeeswho operates his/her business using sound financial, operations, staffingand customer service principles.
