The Saint Paul Police Professional Development Institute (PDI) is sponsoring a BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY course.
This course will focus on the practical aspect of conducting an investigation as a part of a pre-employment screening process for all governmental employees. Topics to be covered include; data practices, collecting pre-employment information, analyzing and focusing your investigation, legal issues, identify elements that disqualify candidates and writing an investigative report.
Attendees will also be led thru a mock background investigation to include interviews. SPPD Background Investigators have worked literally non-stop for the last 3 years conducting backgrounds to fill openings for Parking Enforcement Officers, Community Laison Officers, Civilian Police Academy hopefuls, and Police Officers, certified and non-certified. They will provide participants with updates and procedurals changes due to changes in the Law Enforcement climate. SPPD Background Investigation Unit will have completed a minimum of 150 background investigations in regards to the January 2013 SPPD Recruit Academy.
