Advocacy for Rookies 

What is an advocate?  And how do you actually do this work?

We are excited to present this fast-paced three day course for brand new advocates. Whether you volunteer or are paid, you work in a shelter or a community office, you do system-based advocacy or community organizing for prevention, this training is for you.

We'll cover:

• Naming the problems
• Survivor-centered practice
• Negotiation
• Self-awareness and practical day-to-day skills
• Trauma-informed services
• and more

Registration deadline: April 5th, 2013

Deadline to request interpreters: March 26, 2013

Schedule:

1st day: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
2nd and 3rd days: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Registration Fee:

• WSCADV Member Programs: 1 FREE participant; additional participants $75 each
• WSCADV Associate Members: $75 each
• Non-members: $125 each

Hotel:

We have reserved a block of rooms under "WSCADV" at the Comfort Inn in Lacey at the government per diem rate of $88 per night.  The cut-off date for hotel reservations is March 15th.  You are responsible for making your own reservations and paying for the room.
