Small Business Financial Essentials


This workshop will cover the basics of accounting & financial analysis for the small business owner or operator, using practical small business language that the "non-accounting owner/operator will understand. Every small business owner knows that cash flow is critical to their success. Running out of cash because of a lack of planning, or just bad planning, is certainly one of the main reasons why small businesses fail. The workshop will include discussion of:

  • Best Practice Accounting Principles
  • Basic Financial Statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows & Break-Even Analysis
  • Budgeting
  • Critical Financial Ratios
  • Understanding the Importance of Cash Flow
  • Interpreting Financial Statements
  • Using Financial Statements to Manage Your Business

Presenter: Richard Levine is a founding Principal of The Triad Advisory Group, LLC, a boutique management advisory firm. The firm specializes in providing a full range of business advisory, consulting and implementation services to small and mid-sized businesses. Prior to Triad, Mr. Levine was a Partner in two Big 4 firms, the Managing Director of a major law firm and the COO of the M&A Group for an international investment banking firm. He provides accounting tutoring services and has lectured for SCORE in the field of accounting and financial analysis. Mr. Levine has a B.S. from Tufts University and an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at MIT.
