Shapes Fitness for Women and Crunch Fitness are requesting your assistance with an exciting event that is designed to address a heart breaking problem. In Sarasota and Manatee Counties, each year thousands of children are identified as being homeless at some point during the year, and hundreds more are on the brink of sliding into homelessness.
Our organization, Turning Points, has been serving individuals, families and children struggling with issues related to homelessness since 1995. Formerly known as the Community Coalition on Homelessness, we have successfully built and operate a full service, One Stop Center that provides free medical and dental services, employment assistance, housing assistance, and a day resource service all in one building! Also, included in our Bill Galvano One Stop Center is the local soup kitchen, which provides a daily meal to all our needy friends and neighbors. Last calendar year, more than 8400 people improved their lives through assistance they received at our One Stop Center!
Crunch Fitness and Shapes Total Fitness are taking the initiative to raise awareness of the issue of homeless kids in our midst. They plan on helping and breaking the Guiness Book of World’s Record by holding the largest Zumba class ever organized in the United States! The event will be held on Saturday, May 18 at the Manatee Convention Center, located at 1 Haben Blvd in Palmetto. Organizers expect upward of 6000 people who will be working out to support raising awareness and funds to assist the many children who are homeless in our community.
