Join Us for the 2013 NCAOA Annual Training Conference!

The North Carolina Association on Aging will hold its Annual Training Conference on Wednesday, April 17 – Friday, April 19, 2013 at the Hilton North Raleigh Mid-town in Raleigh, North Carolina. The theme for the Conference is “Champions of Aging, Training for Tomorrow.”

The NCAOA Training Conference is now the only state aging conference that offers the annual opportunity to network with  with a concentrated, yet diverse number of aging professionals and volunteers in one location. We will learn about programs and ideas that address local strategies and solutions to better do our jobs in our changing environment. This year, we are extremely excited to offer an Advocacy Boot Camp on Tuesday (the day before our conference begins) for folks to learn more about effectively advocating for our constituents with our elected officials. There will also be a pre-conference intensive on Wednesday that will offer a visit to the Legislative Building and opportunities to see your Legislators at work.

This year's theme "Champions of Aging, Training for Tomorrow" illustrates the need to continue to train and educate ourselves and others on the changing face of aging.  With our current legislative environment, advocacy is more critical than ever.  This year's conference will keep that in mind.

The 2013 Conference program is full of training opportunities and updates from the leaders in our aging network with focus on areas such as Nutrition and Senior Centers to Community Living and NC AIRS. We are excited to hear from Dr. Aldona Z. Wos, Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services as she kicks off our conference as the opening presenter. Dennis Streets, Director of the Division of Aging and Adult Services, will be our primary emcee of the Award Luncheon and will enlighten us about what lies ahead while with funding limitations, new exciting doors of opportunity are being seen. We will also offer general sessions that highlight our Champions of Aging and a very interactive activity occurs at the closing session for all conference attendees to head home on a high note.

We have powerful workshops planned that not only offer training but the opportunity to share and brainstorm new ideas. Building new relationships through networking is an important part of our conference as our aging network continues to grow. We hope you will make plans to join us in Raleigh and take part in all our conference has to offer.
