The Hartford Medical Society May Event
Simulation Lab Tour and Demonstration
May 30, 2103, 10:30 a.m.
Members and friends of the Hartford Medical Society will have an opportunity to visit the Hartford Hospital Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI) on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. This is a training facility started about a decade ago for the training of health professionals and paraprofessionals (like ambulance teams, helicopter crews, military corpsmen, etc.). It has received national attention in view of the current cultural expectation that learners will not be learning on patients but rather in simulated settings. The aerospace industry was a leader in this approach. The center at HH is one of the largest in the country, occupies 20,000 square feet, and has just received a State of CT grant of $10 million to expand.
On May 30, we will meet at the ERC building (Education Resource Center) at 10:30 a.m. and go to CESI on the second floor together. The new HH parking garage on Hudson Street will be available to us. To keep the number of cars down, car pooling is encouraged where possible. After the one-hour tour and demonstration, you are invited to join the group for lunch in the HH cafeteria. The cost of lunch is on your own.
There is no registration fee but the event is limited to 20 people. If you register and then can't attend, please be considerate and cancel your registration so someone else can take advantage of this opportunity. You may cancel by sending e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
