Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that helps homeless children and their families stay off the streets and regain their independence. It has created a network of local religious congregations that take turns - a week at a time - housing and feeding the families. During the day, children go to school, while the parents go to the Family Promise Resource Center where a case manager helps them find work and housing.
The Family Promise model is a proven and cost-effective use of resources throughout the community. More than 75 percent of the families who are served by Family Promise affiliates nationwide find housing in about 10 weeks.
