Freedom Fellowship Church is hosting our 3rd annual 5K fundraiser at Leesylvania State Park on Saturday, July 13, 2013. Join us in changing lives in our community and in our world for the better. Again this year, we focus our efforts in three specific areas: partnering with Care Net Pregnancy Resource Centers, supporting a missionary family serving in the Far East, and providing scholarships for local college students.

The main event will be a 5K race through Leesylvania State Park, along Potomac Trail and the lower Lee's Woods Trail. There will also be a 1 mile kids' Fun Run, as well as activities for kids. Prizes will be awarded to top finishers and random participants. Early registration is $35 per adult, $15 per student. In addition to race registration fee, there will be a $5 park entrance fee on the morning of the race.

This year, the majority of the race will be in the flatter part of the park on with a small section in the lower trails. The first 1.2 miles of the race will be on a road surface and Potomac Trail. Participants will pass through the marina parking lot, and be visible to spectators in the activity field as they run adjacent to the Potomac River as last year.

2012 Mission 5K Waterfront22012 Mission 5K Waterfront1The middle 0.75 mile section of the race will be on the lower Lee's Woods Trail, a trail through the forest, gentler than last year's trail section. Participants will again run across the grassy field and into the woods, but this time they will run up the switchback hill and past the stone chimney on their way to the flatter section of the Lee's Woods Trail.

The final 1.2 miles of the race will be the reverse direction of the Potomac Trail and marina parking lot. Participants will once again travel parallel to the Potomac river and may get a glimpse passing boats and wildlife.
