Calumet Summit 2013: Connecting for Action

The 2013 Calumet Summit will take place May 14th and 15th at the Marquette Park Pavilion in Gary, Indiana. The Summit is an opportunity for those who work to advance environmental quality in the bi-state Calumet region to:

• Connect with others engaged in environmental planning and conservation

• Learn about existing studies, plans, and projects that inform or lead to collaborative action

• Identify key priorities, next steps, partners, and resources

• Celebrate the bi-state region’s world class environmental assets and their connection to economic and social well-being

The convening and planning of the Calumet Summit 2013 is being coordinated by the Calumet Stewardship Initiative (CSI). The Summit registration fee is $25, which includes breakfast and lunch each day, and can be paid by credit card or PayPal (through the Calumet Heritage Partnership). Space is limited, and registration will CLOSE at 5pm on Monday, May 6th.

Sponsoring organizations include: Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation, ArcelorMittal, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, One Region, the Legacy Foundation, Chicago Park District, and The Field Museum.

Poster Session

Please email Peter Avis (pavis@iun.edu) if you are interested in presenting a poster.  Provide a poster title, authors, and a very brief (1-2 sentence) overview about the focus of the poster. The posters will be presented in the lower level (next to the bar area) of the Marquette Park Pavilion and available for viewing during the entire summit.  Official viewing times will be 3:45-5:00 p.m. on May 14, during which presenters will stand by their posters.  Posters can be taken down after the summit ends on May 15 (or earlier if needed). Presenters should set up as early as possible on the morning of May 14 prior to the conference. Boards will be available with numbers for your poster corresponding to the poster numbers in the schedule. The approximate size target is 36 inches high and 48 inches wide (boards can be inverted but they tend to hang best in this format). Foam boards or cardboard poster templates on easels will be provided. Push-pins or clips will be provided. Handouts to pass out are welcome.
