Honoring our Hurricane Heroes                                Cocktail Reception & Awards Ceremony

The League of Women Voters of New Jersey Education Fund cordially invites you to a cocktail reception and awards ceremony  in honor of our Hurricane Heroes. These individuals and organizations worked tirelessly to ensure that New Jersey voters could participate in the 2012 General Election in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Please join us on Friday, May 3, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Westin Princeton at Forrestal Village as we thank them for their service and commitment to democracy.

Honorees Include:

(pictured: Robert Giles, Alexander Shalom, Mary Ciccone, and Catherine Weiss)

  • Robert Giles, NJ Division of Elections
  • Alexander Shalom, American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey
  • Mary Ciccone, Disability Rights New Jersey
  • Catherine Weiss, Lowenstein Center for the Public Interest
  • Our County and Municipal Clerks
  • Our County Election Officials
  • Volunteers and Members of the League of Women Voters of New Jersey

The League has been working on a documentary film about advocates, government officials, and an energized and motivated public whose efforts following Hurricane Sandy ensured that citizens displaced or disrupted by the storm were able to participate in the Election. We are excited to announce that we will feature a portion of that film at this event.

We will hold our 60th Biennial State Convention on the day following the cocktail reception (Saturday, May 4, from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm at the Conference Center at Mercer). We hope that you will join us for both and we are offering a special discounted price (a $50 savings) when you register for these event together using the option available during the registration process. Please click here for more information about Convention.

Proceeds from this event benefit the League of Women Voters of New Jersey Education Fund which supports our voters service activities.
