2013 Trial Advocacy School

The Missouri Office of Prosecution Services is pleased to announce that the 2013 Trial Advocacy School will be held from July 29-August 1.  We will once again be hosting this course at the UMKC School of Law.

This class is primarily geared toward newer prosecutors who have not yet had many chances to try cases in front of juries.  Any prosecutor who wishes to enhance their trial advocacy skills is also more than welcome to attend.

Students will hear lectures on how to do effective opening statements, closing arguments, and direct and cross examinations.  Students will also practice their trial skills by preparing and presenting these trial segments in a small group setting.  Students at this course will have a unique chance to get advice and feedback from experienced and talented prosecutors from around the state.

The registration fee for this course is $250 per person.  Please make your check payable to: MOPS Revolving Fund, and mail to the Missouri Office of Prosecution Services, P.O. Box 899, Jefferson City, MO 65102.

Participating jurisdictions are responsible for the costs of lodging and meals.  A block of rooms has been reserved at the Embassy Suites on the Plaza, located at 220 W. 43rd Street, Kansas City, MO 64111.  Rooms will be available at a rate of $99 per night, plus $5 per day for parking and any applicable taxes.  You may make a reservation by calling 816-756-1720 and asking for the Missouri Office of Prosecution block.  Reservations  must be made by June 28, 2013, to guarantee the rate and availability.

If you have any questions or need any additional information about this course, please contact Susan Glass at 573-751-1629 or at Susan.Glass@mops.mo.gov.
