Visit the Banyan Room to view local works of seven artists inspired by nature and the garden. The Artist Colony is a community arts group through Arts at St. Johns, where beginners and masters of all mediums come together to critique eachother's work. On the left is "Sea Grape Lady" by Rianne Mitchell Thomas.
The group focused on Mother Earth as a subject, for example animals, trees, and mother/woman. Some of the art is very whimsical and fun, while others are beautiful interpretations of woman & earth. Sculptures made from recylced materials complement paintings and illustrations inspired by mother earth myths and legends. Even some of the framing is done with recycled materials.
There will be hors d'oeuvre inspired by the earth using all vegetarian options provided by A Taste Experience Catering and Artisanal Baking.
Electrifying, moving and covering untraveled roads from avant-garde virtuosity to highly charged computer-assisted improvisation, this extraordinary mother/daughter duo puts together flute and live electronics pioneer Anne La Berge with rising new music violinist Diamanda La Berge Dramm as The Treble Girls. The concert includes world premieres by three composers who together explore the electronic, improvisatory and compositional edges of today’s music. Anne La Berge's career as flutist/improviser/composer stretches across international and stylistic boundaries. Her performances bring together a ferocious and far-reaching virtuosity, a penchant for improvising delicately spun microtonal textures and melodies, and her wholly unique array of powerfully percussive flute effects, all combined with electronic processing. After the music performance, grab a coffee and walk over to Lincoln Road to check out the New Music Miami performance at 7:30 p.m. in the 420 building.
We will be hosting a station for people to make their own flags to fly in the Miami Beach Earth Day celebration on April 27. Create a flag from recycled materials that depicts an eco-action you pledge in support of the environment. On April 27, plant the flag at Lummus Park before flying it in the parade at 4:30. Learn more here about the project and how you can participate! More information on other activities coming soon. Anyone interested in volunteering please contact Terra at 305-673-7256 ext. 201.
