The BCA Center for Buddhist Education will present "Over the Rainbow - The LGBT (Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender) Community & Shin Buddhism," a one-day seminar taking place on Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 9:30 am to 9:00 pm at the Jodo Shinshu Center, 2140 Durant Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94704.
Three guest speakers: Rev. Kurt Rye (Ekoji Temple, Fairfax, VA), Rev. Gregory Gibbs (Oregon Buddhist Temple) and Rev. Carol Himaka (So. Alameda County Buddhist Church) will address Buddhist and Jodo Shinshu doctrinal perspectives on this topic.
Panelists will include: Elaine Donlin, Minister's Assistant (Buddhist Church of SF); Gary Jaskula, Minister's Assistant (NY Buddhist Church); Fred Pelger, Minister's Assistant (Tacoma Buddhist Temple); Hoshina Seki, President, American Buddhist Study Center (NY); and Matthew Wise, Minister's Assistant (NYBC).
