Tomato Tastings at The Heirloom Tomato Festival

If you love food and, in particular, if you love tomatoes you won't want to miss this event! At our popular Tomato Tastings at the The Heirloom Tomato Festival you'll sit down at a table with a rainbow of tomato slices before you. Phoenix Perennials owner Gary Lewis will then lead you in a tasting of about 15+ different tomatoes one by one and all in a particular order just like a wine tasting. He'll introduce each tomato variety to you, talk about the type of cultivar, its history and origins, its flavour profile and its uses in the kitchen. You'll then taste the tomato and discuss it as a group. You'll have a list of of the tomatoes in front of you so you can take notes for future reference. At the end of the session you'll take home your very own Party Mix of three plus pounds of heirloom tomatoes that were grown organically in open fields by Red Barn Plants at their farm in Cawston, BC - no tomato will taste as good as these tomatoes!

Our Heirloom Tomato Tastings are hands down the most popular workshops we've ever done so book early! Each session will last about 45-50 minutes. | Instructor: Gary | $12 + tax plus $18 for a Party Mix (no tax) = $30.60. | Groupon vouchers are not eligible for this workshop.

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS (Please read carefully): Click on Register Now! at the bottom of this page. On the following page you will first register your name and contact information. If you would like to bring guests then click on the ADD button and type in the names of the people you are signing up for a Tasting Session. In the next section of the registration page you will select the time that you will attend the session and the number of spots you need. This will be the same as the number of people you listed in the first section. There is a limit of 30 people per session. The number of spaces still available in each session is displayed. In summary, registration is a two step process: you must register each person by name and then choose the number of spots you need in your preferred session.

PLEASE NOTE: This new online system is snazzy but is not perfect. You will get a confirmation email and it will probably say 10am. That is because the event runs from 10am to 2pm. Once you have registered please write down your tasting time on your calendar right away to avoid confusion.
