Estate Planning Workshop
With Kathleen Murphy and Pamela Little
Thursday, May 9, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
This seminar will focus on the issues to address when developing an estate plan and the importance of working with an estate planning attorney. Participants will learn the function of a will and its affect on the probate process as well as the different kinds of trusts available and the benefits and risks they offer. The seminar will also focus on different strategies to decrease estate taxes and passing assets to your heirs.
We start helping you Plan for the Expected by thoroughly discussing your goals and expectations, and how they relate to your estate plan. This includes:
- Understanding your current situation. We discuss your assets and debts; your income and spending goals; your insurance needs; any already implemented estate strategies; and any potential known future needs.
- Outlining key priorities and objectives. These may include your desire to transfer your assets to family or a charity; protection against potential incapacity; establishment of a guardian for minor children and dependents; your charitable intent; your desire for tax control; any business succession concerns; and tools and techniques to potentially address these concerns.
- Balancing potentially competing goals. You may have more than one financial goal to consider, such as retirement versus leaving a legacy. We discuss strategies as well as potential tradeoffs.
A light dinner will be provided.
Cost: free. Registration is required for attendance at this workshop.
