For Your Mindfulness & Well-Being

LPN New England's Meeting is June 14!

What is mindfulness and what can it do for us, as individuals and as professionals? How can we practice mindful attentiveness in daily life? How can we use our bodies more mindfully? Two experienced and lively facilitators will lead us in exploring mindfulness and its benefits.

Morning Facilitator: Debra Hickok, CPCC, PCC. Debra, trained and certified in both fundamental and advanced coaching and facilitation techniques, is principle of Featherstone Personal and Professional Coaching. She was nominated Life Coach of the Year 2012 by International Coaching Federation / New England (www.featherstonecoaching.com)

Debra specializes in the study and practice of aligning all parts of ourselves--mind, body, heart and spirit--in order to expand our consciousness and live purposeful, fulfilling lives. She supports her clients in employing a variety of methods for becoming more present in their personal and professional lives. Her interests are: leadership and group dynamics, mindfulness, psychology, metaphysics, reading and meditation. Debra also enjoys hiking, kayaking and skiing…all at a leisurely pace!

Morning / Afternoon Facilitator: Julian Miller has been teaching Tai Chi and other movement arts for 30 years. Recently, he has developed an accessible system for learning the practice and principles of Tai Chi. Julian is also a Focusing practitioner, writer, poet, artist, passionate swimmer, aficionado of ballroom dancing and devoté of dark chocolate. He is the author of two books, Breaking Through: Freeing Yourself From Fear, Helplessness and Depression, and Lifespan Plus: The Definitive Guide to Health and Wellbeing. He is currently completing I Should Praise, an illustrated book of poetry.

Monday Noontime (EST) Conference Call June 17:

Topic: Mindfulness and The Body

Sunada Takagi, MS, PCP, ACC http://www.mindfulpurpose.com

Call in number: 209-640.1000 / 834330#

The most direct and sustainable way to connect with mindfulness is through our bodies – our lived experience through our senses. Sunada will discuss how this way of being can bring more calm, focus, and self-directedness into our personal and professional lives. Her presentation will include a 15 minute mindfulness meditation to help you find this connection for yourself.

Sunada Takagi is an ordained Buddhist minister, mindfulness instructor, and life coach. She leads classes in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and coaches individuals – primarily those navigating mid-life transitions – to kickstart their lives in new directions.

"(Mindfulness) is a way of practicing being present by being in our body, wherever it is and whatever it is doing. When we are exactly where our body is, we are in the present moment. The body isn’t in the past or future, it’s not conceptual or imagined; … It houses our awareness, is shaped by our stories, thoughts, and emotions … The body is a treasure trove and an exquisite vehicle for our practice of waking up and being with what is.”   - Jill Satterfield, Founder and Director of Vajra Yoga and Meditation
