ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Our seminar will feature three specialists in the Elder Care areas of Financial Planning, Elder Law and Geriatric Care Management.

Financial Realities of Care Costs

Care costs can be high and have a large impact on life savings, forcing individuals and families to make difficult financial decisions. It is important to plan for the possibility of this need and to protect assets to the extent possible. The costs of care can change an inheritance or even a current lifestyle dramatically. The reality of paying for elder care is sobering, but planning in advance for this expense can help you be better prepared for this stage of life.

Using an interactive financial planning tool, we'll briefly explore various financial scenarios involving the cost of elder care. Find out if you'll have enough to cover elder care costs.

Elder Law

There are a number of legal concerns surrounding care, planning and how to protect an estate. This can include governmental assistance for long-term care, including Medicare and Medicaid as sources of payment, and how one qualifies for these programs medically and financially. Estate planning and administration also becomes a growing concern for many clients whose spouses need care.

Geriatric Care Management

Choosing appropriate care for a loved one and making sure that things are going well can be challenging to pursue on your own. It can be difficult to identify what resources are readily available, evaluate and choose among them, and also judge the effectiveness of your care plan. Pam hopes to help you see how a geriatric care manager can help you or someone you know when a loved one faces previously uncharted territory including diseases of aging and end of life issues.
