A Blueprint for Building Better Sentences  Let us show you how a sentence structure can be a playground!  Learn new, innovative and appealing methods to teach sentence types with an easy-to-use sentence structure format that can be a playground. Engage and excite students not only for writing practice but also for grammar and sentence revision with special emphasis on the importance of variety in all styles of writing.

Developing a Strong Core with Reading  Experience an exciting journey through close reading! See best practices for implementing a Common Core reading lesson for Social Studies, Science and English-- engaging critical thinking with non-fiction readings, utilizing online activities that connect learners with each other and authentic experiences, interactive note taking, and chunking content for manageable delivery. Make Mine Rocky Road – Using Word Choice to Flavor Your Writing   What are ‘vanilla’ and ‘rocky road’ words? Let us share the recipe for identifying and applying vivid and sophisticated word choice to enhance writing. Using a variety of fiction and non-fiction mentor text, group discussion, and activities will demonstrate using the right word and boosting the flavor of a summary plus other ways students can apply flavor to their writing.

Special Breakout Session: Best Inclusionary Practices Across All Grade Levels                                     presented by Dr. Johnathan McIntire, Secondary School Adminstrator, UCP of Central Florida.                  United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Central Florida's consortium of seven charter schools provides research-based services to children with special needs.  Through an Instructional Best Practices for Students with Disabilities Dissemination Grant, they are sharing resources with other Florida Charter Schools. Join Dr. McIntire for a discussion on improved instructional practices in inclusive settings and learn more about these resources available for teachers, instructional staff and school leaders.
