New Year Yoga Retreat with Pete Guinosso

Unplug, unwind and reconnect with your spirit during this special New Year Yoga Retreat. Each morning will begin with quiet meditation followed by a vigorous Vinyasa flow. In the evenings, we will enjoy the support of community as we reflect on the triumphs and challenges of 2013, and set intentions for a harmonious start in 2014. Join Pete Guinosso at the serene Land of Medicine Buddha and set the foundation to manifest the true desires of your heart, remembering that the profound and unending flow of grace supports all that we set our sights upon.
During breaks, explore the breathtaking trails accessible from the lodge’s grounds or the adjacent 10,000 acres of State forest, grab a book, or simply enjoy a catnap in your cozy bedroom.

About the Yoga Teacher:
Connect into your inner yogi with Pete Guinosso. Known for his joyful energy, compassionate guidance, sense of humor, skilled touch, and spiritual yet light-hearted approach, Pete creates an environment for his students to uncover the deeper benefits of their yoga practice.

Pete began his own practice after thirty years of running, cycling, and contact sports. Motivated by a desire to connect his mind, body, and spirit through movement and breath, he spent several years and over 600 hours training with Ana Forrest, including assisting her 24-day Foundation Teacher Training course.

It is through this experience that he learned how to compassionately guide students of all levels through a vigorous asana practice with integrated breath work and awareness. Pete resides in the Bay Area and makes yoga and the depth of the practice available to students in group classes, workshops, and retreats. He is also available for private consultations.

About Land of Medicine Buddha:
Land of Medicine Buddha is a Center devoted to the transmission of the Mahayana Buddhist tradition and values through teaching, meditation and community service, located in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Our organization is based on the Buddhist tradition of Lama Tsong Khapa of Tibet as taught to us by our founder, Lama Thubten Yeshe and our Spiritual Director, Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Land of Medicine Buddha is a unique facility providing Tibetan Buddhist teachings, retreats,  healing, a beautiful physical environment, and much more...
The Land Itself: Situated on 108 acres adjoining 10,000 acres of state forest, our physical location provides a perfect space for guests to visit for the day to take a hike in the woods, meditate, relax, and connect to their spiritual inner being; recover from the stress of their busy lives, or just relax.

Prayer Wheels: Land of Medicine Buddha is home to three beautiful large prayer wheels, and many smaller ones as well. The Mani Wheel outside the main hall is packed with 64 billion om mani padme hum mantras, microfilmed from an original script written by His Holiness Dalai Lama. This is one of the most powerful prayer wheels on earth. The large prayer wheel in the Ksitigarbha garden has 11.8 billion mantras, and the Ksitigharba statue is being surrounded by thirty two smaller prayer wheels each holding over one million mantras . At the entrance to the center (near the bookstore), work is in progress to completely fill our big prayer wheel with the mantra of compassion, as well as other mantras for long life, to clear obstacles, purify negativities and develop wisdom.
