About the Tour

The 2013 AIA East Bay Home Tours features six houses--two each in Oakland, Berkeley and Lafayette. The houses open at 10am and close at 4:30pm.

In general, tour goers drive their own cars to the houses and find their own parking on nearby streets. However, due to the difficult parking in some neighborhoods, this year's tour does include two houses in Berkeley that are reached only by our shuttle bus, and one house in Lafayette that requires walking half a mile (in a delightful neighborhood). We have arranged for convenient parking lots at the shuttle bus and walking locations, to make things easy and comfortable.

I'd like to bring my children, is that okay?

Children under 12 are not allowed on the tour. If parents wish to bring a child to the tour, one parent must remain outside the homes with the child at all times. Babies may be carried in a front-facing chest-carrier or baby sling. Strollers, back-carriers, and "babes in arns" are not allowed.

Footwear...
All tourgoers are provided protective shoe covers to wear when entering each house. Contractor boots, high heels, and flip flops are not advised.

Is the tour fully accessible to the disabled?
These private homes often have stairways and steep driveways that require some walking and maneuvering. We apologize but access is not available for the disabled.
