Community Health Center Frontline Supervisory Leadership Workshop

When is the workshop being held? 

The 4-day workshop will be held September 24 - 27, 2013 at Peer Assistance in Denver, CO. The seminar will be held from 7:30 am – 4:30 pm each day and participants are expected to attend all four days of the workshop.  There is an administrative fee of $50 to attend.*  This fee is to cover material expenses excluded from the grant.  Breakfast, lunch and snack will be provided each day. 

 What will I learn in this course?

You will develop greater skills and expertise in change management, diversity and culture, effective communication, conflict resolution and creating excellence in the workplace. These topics, among others, will be presented in this interactive workshop by expert faculty in a variety of teaching styles and presentation formats, including group activities, partnerships, classroom games, and more.  

Before the session begins, you will recruit a coach to attend the Intro to Coaching class (Sept. 19-20, 2013).  After the Leadership workshop, to support you in developing your new skills, your coach will meet with you 30 minutes weekly, or one hour every other week, in person or over the phone. The exact time will need to be set up by you, the Leader.  By the end of the actual workshop, you will be prepared to develop a capstone project to be conducted and completed over the following six months.  Some examples have been "Improve Employee Engagement", "Build a Highly Functioning Team", and "Change Management".  This training will provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to choose and implement a capstone project that fits your interests and the needs of your health center.  You will be able to strengthen and integrate the skills learned during this 4 day workshop through your capstone project, and your coach will support you throughout the process. 

Both leaders and coaches will benefit from a robust experiential learning program through a six-month transformational learning process.  

What will I need to do to prepare for the course?

There are a few steps to prepare for this course:

1.  Upon registration, a short book and homework will be mailed to you.  We ask  that you read the book and complete the homework prior to starting the workshop.

 2.   Recruit a coach to attend the Intro to Coaching class. Your coach cannot be your direct supervisor, but can be someone else in your organization.  He or she should be in a senior level  or executive level position and be someone you are comfortable talking openly with.

CHC Workshop Registration and Financial Policies

*Participants unable to pay the registration fee should contact CCHN, Angela Rose at angela@cchn.org before registering.   

 The administration fee for the 2013 CHC Leadership workshop will be $50. Registration is not considered complete until payment is received.  The due date for payment will be one week before the workshop.  If payment has not been received by that date, the registration will be released.  If payment is received in the last week AND there is space available the participant may join the class.  If payment has not been received by the day of class, the participant will not be allowed to attend, even if space is available.

 Cancellation 

 Cancellation that occurs less than 30 days but before the first day of the course will incur a $25 cancellation fee.

Attendance

Participants must be present for all hours of the four day workshop.  For a “no-show” or if a participant misses more than 4 hours, they will not be allowed to continue in the course.  There will be no partial make-up arrangements made and no refund of tuition funds will occur.
