The benefit is going to be for Taylor Haberman. She is a local girl that is in Gainesville waiting on a heart. Her father is a JSO Sargent.

Taylor was born with Congenital Heart Disease and had to have several open heart surgeries to correct the problems. As a result of one of those surgeries, she developed a rare side effect called Protein Losing Enteropathy (PLE). This disease causes the body to lose the protein it needs. PLE is extremely rare and there is not a lot of information available. At this point, the medical profession does not know how to prevent it or even how to cure it. Every study that has been done in reference to PLE only temporarily delays the effects of the disease but does not cure it. Unfortunately at this point, we have tried every medicine that has been studied without success and we are on our last option. Our last option is a Heart Transplant. Taylor was admitted to the hospital in Gainesville on January 2, 2013 and will remain there until she receives a new heart.

Despite all the different stress this situation has caused, her family continues to maintain a positive outlook and take it one day at a time. We know when this chapter in our life comes to close it will bring a new and better chapter. Taylor will come out of this feeling better than she ever has and will be able to enjoy life at an all new level. She has also decided that when she is done with this, she wants to go to school to become a nurse so she can give back to the profession that has given her so much. We all believe that Taylor will make an excellent nurse and will bring a wealth of experience to the profession.
